Soviet flamethrower tank TO-55

The TO-55 flamethrower tank (sometimes referred to as the OT-55) was developed in 1956. It was produced serially from 1957 to 1962. Was in service with the Soviet Army. In the battles was not used.

TO-55 Design Features

base – tank T-55.
The overall layout is classical.

Armament – stabilized in two planes.

Defense – similar to the T-55; the body is welded, from armored rolled sheets, side sheets are vertical; turret cast. In the forged sheet above the tank with fire-light a hatch for refueling is made, and in the bottom under it there is a hatch for discharge of the fire mixture.

Chassis – engine 12-cylinder, four-stroke, V-type diesel water cooling; individual suspension, torsion bar.
