The tank was developed in 1941. It was mass-produced since 1942. It was in the service with the armies of the USA and Great Britain, was supplied to the USSR under the Lend-Lease program; after 1945, was in service with the armies of many countries in Western Europe and Asia. Used in battles of the Second World War.

Design features

The base is the original one for all modifications of the Sherman series tanks.

The overall layout – the power plant is located in the aft part of the hull, and the gearbox and steering mechanisms – in the bow; are connected by a driveshaft.
