Armored vehicles of France. It is unique in its own way, and it is difficult to confuse it with the fighting machines of any other country. The first is a light tank “Renault FT-17” of the 1917 edition.

This is the first real tank of the First World War, a classic – it was he who determined the layout of the tanks of subsequent generations of most countries in the world: ahead – the division of control, in the center – the combat compartment with a 360-degree revolving tower with weapons, in the rear – the engine-transmission compartment. France supplied these tanks to 20 countries of the world. They became the basis of armored forces of France. A total of 7820 units were produced. After World War I, France had the largest tank fleet in the world, numbering about 4,000 cars. Over the next 10 years, France was mainly engaged in the modernization of old samples. And only on the eve of World War II began to develop new tanks with more powerful armor increased mobility. But in the overwhelming majority it was light tanks. The voluminous cast designs of the armored corps of subsequent tanks, their armament and higher combat characteristics than the first German tanks, are a mute reproach to the adopted Military Doctrine, the Conception of the Armed Forces and the Military Reform of France … These mistakes in the Second World War have cost the French Republic dearly. (see details of the history of the first tanks of France at Saumur tank museum, Loire, France)

Germany at the beginning of military operations on the border with France concentrated 2,574 tanks, of which 1,478 were obsolete T-1 and T-2. After the 2nd World War II France to equip its army with new tanks AMX-13 tank -The first in the world with an autoloader, the AMX-30 and armored vehicles “Panhard AML-245” different modifications.
Two, like toys, combat vehicles Italy with a beautiful name of the company “Fiat-Ansaldo” … in the 30s on the basis of units of the company “Fiat” built their tanks and use them in Abyssinia and the German-Italian group of Rommel in Africa. On the Soviet-German front, wedges CV3 / 33, a light tank L6-40 with relatively weak armor and weapons were used.
Sweden before World War II traded licenses for the manufacture of armored vehicles, armored vehicles, as well as good weapons. It was in Sweden to “Bofors” company factories German engineers have made one of the best instruments of the 2nd World War: 88mm anti-aircraft gun, which after processing was mounted also on fighters “Nashorn” tanks “jagdpanther” “Ferdinand” (“Elephant”) and a heavy tank T-VIB (“Royal Tiger”). About 1000 trunks.
Sweden presented the museum with the world’s only main battle tankless tank Strv-103B, which in the 60s occupied the minds of world tank builders. Strv-103B guided his 105-mm tank gun by changing the position of the tank’s body both horizontally and vertically.
Chinese sand tank T-59 is a copy of our native fifty-fours, but in the Chinese version.
Czechoslovakia (company “Skoda” and CKD) in 1939 released a light tank Ltvz38, who has not got the People’s Army of Czechoslovakia, and after the German occupation of more than 400 tanks under the new abbreviation Pz.38 (t) joined in the armored forces of the Wehrmacht. tank design was so successful that on the basis of already obsolete tanks (this machine is known also under the name “Prague-38”), the German engineers developed lightweight fighter “Hetzer” tank, which is produced in the Czech Republic for the Wehrmacht. In 1944, General-Field Marshal G. Guderian issued an order for 2500 fighters. After quite effective application of them on the Soviet-German front for 1945, a new order for another 2,500 tank destroyers was followed. During the war, Czechoslovakia supplied the Wehrmacht with about 7,000 tanks and automatic control systems.
Hungary, in the main, built tanks and automatic control systems under the licenses of Sweden and Czechoslovakia. During the Second World War produced: 614 tanks; 201 ACS; 196 armored personnel carriers. To this, it is necessary to add supplies by Germany in 1942-1945. for Hungary, 253 tanks (including 13 “Tigers” and 5 “Panthers”), 150 ACS, and Soviet tanks T-27 and T-28. Hungary is represented by three armored vehicles Among them are self-propelled artillery “Zrinyi” with a proper name – “Irenka,” of which there are two copies preserved in the world (although produced until the end of the war) – one in front of you, the other – in the Budapest Museum.
Polish technology, there is only one small wedge, manufactured under the license of the English company “Carden-Loyd.” Of 700 tankers, only two remained, one in front of you, the second in Romania.
Japan based on the analysis and study of the experience of the development and combat use of tanks by Britain and France in the First World War begins in the 1920-s to create domestic tanks.

WW2 Japanese tanks

From 1931 to 1945, Japan produced 6,600 different tanks and more than 150 all types of self-propelled guns (self-propelled feld guns, howitzers and mortars of caliber 75, 105, 150 and 300 mm). The tanks of Japan differed in small dimensions and weight, satisfactory mobility and good cross-country ability. As a power plant, most of them were equipped with two-stroke air-cooled diesel engines. We had a weak reservation, weakened by a multitude of hatches and assembled on a frame with the help of rivets, and armament. This excluded their use as anti-tank weapons against the tanks of the Soviet Union, the USA and England.

The world’s only collection of Japanese tanks during the Second World War. Miniature tanks, diesel air cooling, the original solution to the problem of a floating tank, the delivery of tanks to any continent … on submarines (the German “Tiger” including, which the Japanese bought from Germany in 1944) … this is all that has been preserved all over the world from melting, except for individual, literally several samples …
