Design features

The base is an armored personnel carrier BTR-152 using units of the ZIL-157 car. General layout – the power plant is located in front. Armament – installation of a machine gun similar to BTR-152.

Protection – the machine has a supporting armored body of rolled armor plates.

Chassis – compared with the BTR-152, the following changes were made to the design: a new air purifier was installed; two-chamber carburetor; thermosiphon starting heater; liquid cooled compressor; the transmission is supplemented by a power take-off for winch drive; introduced a centralized system for regulating tire pressure.
