Design features

Base – BMP-1.

General layout – the engine-transmission compartment is located in front, the landing – at the rear.

Armament – the armament complex is equipped with a loading mechanism; 73-mm gun and 12.7-mm machine gun are located in a double turret; 7.62 mm machine gun mounted in a rotating turret on the body.

Protection – at the BMP-1 level.

Chassis – six-cylinder engine, liquid-cooled diesel; mechanical transmission, consisting of a multi-disk main clutch of dry friction, a six-speed gearbox, two planetary two-stage rotation mechanisms and two final drives; the chassis has seven track rollers, a caterpillar mover with a hydrodynamic grid.
